In Hindu mythology, Lord Narasimha has often been regarded as Vaidya Narasimha, since it is believed that he has many times cured chronic illnesses in people, due to which, even today, those suffering from chronic ailments visit the place to seek the blessings of the deity and get cured.
Since it is historically believed that sages used to worship Lord Narasimha, the area surrounding the Yadagirigutta Temple is also referred to as the Rishi Aradhana Kshetram, which literally means the place/land of the worship of sages.
