Steps to Install Windows 98

  • Prepare your computer for setting up the Windows 98 OS.
  • “Boot from CD-ROM” should be selected and then press “Enter”.
  • “Start Windows 98 setup from CD-ROM” should be highlighted by the user.
  • Then press “Enter”.
  • “Configure unallocated disk space (recommended)” should be highlighted and then press “Enter”.
  • The decision should be made if large disk support should be enabled or not.
  • Then press “Enter”.
  • “Boot from CD-ROM” should be selected and then press “Enter”.
  • “Start Windows 98 setup from CD-ROM” should be highlighted and then press “Enter”.
  • Again press “Enter”.
  • Then click “Continue”.
  • The decision should be made whether Windows 98 should be installed on the computer or not. If yes, then click “Next”.
  • Setup options should be chosen.
  • Installation components should be chosen.
  • A name and a Workgroup should be given to the computer and then click “Next”.
  • Country should be selected from the list and then click “Next”.
  • Again click “Next”.
  • Restart the computer.
  • “Boot from Hard Disk” should be highlighted and then press “Enter”.
  • User’s name and the company’s name should be entered and then click “Next”.
  • The agreement should be accepted and then click “Next”.
  • The exact product key should be entered and then click “Next”.
  • Click “Finish”.
  • “Boot from Hard Disk” should be highlighted and then press “Enter”.
  • Settings of the Date/Time Properties should be done and then click “Close”.
  • Restart the computer.
  • “Boot from Hard Disk” should be highlighted and then press “Enter”.
  • Click “Ok”.
  • This brings the completion of the installation process of Windows 98.
