The Story of UrbanClap: Abhiraj Bhal, Varun Khaitan, and Raghav Chandra
Abhiraj Bhal, Varun Khaitan, and Raghav Chandra are the founders of popular Indian mobile market place company: UrbanClap.
Abhiraj Bhal was born on the 7th of December, 1986, and has a degree in electrical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur. Before embarking on his role as a founding member of UrbanClap, he worked as a consultant for the Boston Consulting Group.
Varun Khaitan, is also an IIT Kanpur alumni, who also happened to work at the Boston Consulting Group, like Abhiraj. On the other hand, Raghav Chandra, has a degree in computer science engineering as well as electrical engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, and before joining Varun and Abhiraj as co-founder of UrbanClap, he had worked as a software engineer in Twitter and had also founded a peer-to-peer auto-rickshaw sharing ride platform called Buggi.
At present, Abhiraj handles the operations and service provider onboarding at UrbanClap, while Raghav handles the technology and product development, followed by Varun handling the marketing and product growth. UrbanClap has been recognized as one of India’s fastest growing start-ups, currently serving over 1 million customers, operating in 8 different cities in the country. Few of the prime investors in the company include names like, Kunal Bahl (co-founder of Snapdeal), Ratan Tata, as well as Rohit Bansal (cofounder of Snapdeal).
The UrbanClap platform helps customers hire trusted professionals for the need of day-today services, which vary from AC services, car cleaning services, guitar teachers, dance teachers, wedding photographers, wedding planners, to laptop repairing services as well as chartered accountants, among many more.
