One of Maruti Suzuki’s top-selling MPVs is all set to make a revamped comeback in the Indian market. Yes, the brand new Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is scheduled to launch in October 2018. Though the car has already been showcased, but it was the Indonesian version. However, the good news is that the Indian-spec of the car is going to be largely similar to it. If sources are to be believed, the new Ertiga will be retailed via Nexa Showrooms and this new version of the MUV is getting new engines as well.
It will have two variants, one in petrol and one in diesel; and it is believed that it will share the 1.5 litre K15B petrol engine with the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and have a new 1.5 litre diesel engine as well. Another good news worth mentioning is that the 7-stear MPV this time will have bigger space, including a bigger boot space, and will also be decked up with a whole lot of new features. Given these aspects, it is quite obvious that the prices of the MPV will surely be soaring high and it is speculated that the starting price of the new MPV would be somewhere around Rs. 7.5 lacs.
Coming to the exteriors of the car, the silhouette is widely similar to the current generation of the MPV that’s already in the market; however, the new one gets all brand new panels. From the size aspect, the new Ertiga of 2018 has grown significantly, which in figures are, 99mm in length, 40mm in width, and 5mm in height. Given these wider new dimensions, the boot space of the car has increased by 18 liters, summing it up to 153 liters. The wheel base of the car however has remained the same at 2740mm. Some of the new features in the MPV include new front bumper, twin-pod headlights with projector lamps, new 15-inch alloy wheels, chrome grille, a muscular hood, new tail lamps, and a new rear-three quarter glass design.
The interiors remain beige, but it’s a completely new dashboard. Similar to the ones in the Audis, the new Ertiga too gets a three-tier design with the upper layer of the car that features end-to-end AC vents. While the Indonesian variant of the car gets a 6.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, the Indian variant will be getting a 7-inch Smartplay system. The car will be powered by a 1.4-liter 4-cylinder 92PS/130Nm K14B petrol, and the 1.3-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged 90PS/200Nm D13A Smart-Hybrid engine, both paired with a 5-speed manual transmission, from which the petrol variant will be getting a 4-speed automatic option.
