25th of November is celebrated worldwide as International Women’s Safety Day. While safety isn’t a thing that needs one day in the year to be acknowledged, since the need for safety is perpetual, here are some safety hacks for you to always keep in mind in order to ensure your safety is never jeopardized—

  1. Don’t carry too much cash

Try keeping the petty cash handy so you don’t need to take out your entire wallet with stacks of notes in front of others, giving them a glimpse of the money you are carrying. It is always wiser to carry as less cash as possible and rely on debit/credit cards more when going to places, you know have payments via cards facility.

  1. Don’t sit inside the car for too long when you are not driving

Most of the women have this tendency of sitting inside their car, either talking on phone or doing their make up right after they come out of a shopping mall or their office. Its best if one can avoid doing that since this habit makes it easier for strangers to track your movements and then get inside your car through the passenger’s seat in no time and threaten you.

  1. Be extremely cautious with your social media check-ins

These days, one can easily stalk someone’s account by keeping a tab on their social media activities. Be it Facebook or Instagram, it is hence important that you make it a point to check in to a location while leaving that place and not after entering it, as this way your stalker won’t be able to follow you in places where you just checked-in, since by the time he makes a point to reach there, you would have already exited.

  1. Rely on GPS more than people

Google knows it all, and apply this theory while you are out on a place not that familiar to you. The satellite signals on your GPS won’t lie about the correct roads and locations, but a stranger on the road can. During times when your GPS won’t work, try asking the same question to a number of people before proceeding with their saying, as most of the times, majority won’t be lying.

  1. Choose your accommodation wisely

When going to a new city, always plan your trip well beforehand, including traveling and accommodation. These days many hotels offer women only floors, which are safer and hence, with a proper beforehand trip plan, you can get one of those.
