Gurmeet Ram Rahim’s Son to Head Dera Sacha Sauda, Reports Say
The conviction of Gurmeet Ram Rahim, chief of Dera Sacha Sauda, in a rape case, has resulted in a massive violence and also a haze about who will be his successor. Gurmeet Ram Rahim has been sentenced to 20 years of imprisonment by the CBI Court in Panchkula, for rape and now according to reports, his son Jasmeet would be the new chief of the association.
On Tuesday, Jasmeet was appointed as the administrator of the Dera sector and now chances are rife that he will be their new leader. The reports also add that he is being backed by his mother, Gurmeet Ram Rahim’s wife Harjit Kaur and his grandmother, Nasib Kaur.
It is believed that both the women will be meeting the Dera Chief at Rohtak and try to convince him to appoint Jasmeet as his successor.
On the other hand, names of Dera chief’s foster daughter Honeypreet along with Dera chairperson Vipassana Insan are also in news for being potential successor to Gurmeet Ram Rahim.
However, when contacted, sources from the Dera sector have denied all these theories and said nothing of this sort has been initiated by the Dera management yet and all this news are mere rumours. They said that their priority at the moment is to file an appeal at the High Court against the imprisonment sentence announced for Gurmeet Ram Rahim.
The judgment for Ram Rahim came 18 years after he had raped two of his disciples, and his conviction has led to huge violence, resulting in the death of around 38 people, leaving over 264 injured.
