FIR lodged against lead actor and director of Mohalla Assi
A religious organization of Varanasi has filed a complaint with the police against the lead actor of the upcoming film Mohalla Assi, Sunny Deol and director Chandra Prakash Dwivedi for hurting religious sentiments.
The complainant group has been identified as Sarvajan Jagruti Sanstha has alleged that abusive language has been used in the forthcoming movie. According to the organization, the film’s language not only violates moral ethics but also shows Varanasi in a bad light.
The complaint was filed by the group on Sunday, June 21st at Bhelupur police station.
The upcoming movie featuring Sunny Deol is about the changing Varanasi and is based on award-winning writer Dr Kashinath Singh’s popular novel ‘Kashi Ka Assi.’
In this movie, the Gadar: Ek Prem Katha actor plays the lead role of a Sanskrit teacher and an orthodox religious priest but likes cussing in his daily conversations. The film also stars Ravi Kishen and Sakshi Tanwar , who plays the role of his innocent wife who is trying to understand why do foreigners love visiting Varanasi and why they are so much interested in the religious place.
