Congress, AAP demands Smriti Irani’s resignation

Both Congress and AAP demanded the resignation of Human Resource Development Minister Smriti Irani over her controversial educational qualification which is different in different election affidavits.
A Delhi court has taken cognizance of a complaint filed by a freelance writer which stated that Ms. Irani had given different details about her educational qualification while filing her nominations for Lok Sabha as well as Rajya Sabha polls.
In her April 2004 Lok Sabha polls, Ms. Irani said that she completed her B.A in 1996 from Delhi University’s school of correspondence, while in July 11, 2011 for contesting Rajya Sabha elections from Gujarat, she said that her highest qualification was B.Com, Part-I from D.U school of correspondence.
Whereas, the affidavit filed for nomination in April 16, 2014 for Lok Sabha elections from Amethi constituency in Uttar Pradesh, Smriti Irani had said that she completed B.Com Part-I from Delhi University’s school of open learning.
