0 136

Located in the Dakshin Kannada district in the south Indian state of Karnataka, Talapady is a holy village sharing borders with the states of Karnataka as well as Kerala. The village happens to be a Hindu pilgrim place, where devotees visit all throughout the year. Although very little documentations and historic evidences have been found about the village in inscriptions, it is believed to have existed since the time of the ancient world.

The village houses the famous ancient temple called Shree Durga Parameshwari Temple that garners the attention of many tourists and pilgrims. The main deity here is Shree Devi, alongside other prominent Hindu deities such as Lord Shree Mahaganapathy, Shree Veerabhadra Swamy, and a list of other Parivara Daivas who are worshipped here by the local people and other devotees. According to legend, the idol of Shree Devi was found in the forests in Talapdy Village and was installed by Raj Purohith in the temple here.

It is also believed that the devotee’s prayers are bound to be answered and fulfilled if they pray from the core of their hearts to the goddess here in the Durga Parameshwari Temple. Over the years, this aspect has been validated by many devotees who make it a point to revisit the temple and pay tribute to the goddess after their wishes are fulfilled.
