India’s comedy sensation Kapil Sharma has started his journey in Bollywood on a positive note as his Bollywood debut “Kis Kis Ko Pyaar Karoon” has reportedly minted Rs. 18.75 crore on its first two days.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh, on twitter, said that the movie has grossed 18.75 crore on its first two days at box-office and it should have a 30 crore [+/-] opening weekend in India, which is phenomenal.
At the special screening of the movie, Sharma said, “It feels good when your efforts are appreciated. I was not expecting such a positive response”.
He also added, “Thanks to everybody for sending so much love and blessings. Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon commenced on a very good note and hopefully it will carry on a high note in coming weeks”.
The director duo Abbas- Mastan, who is famous for their thrillers, has come up with a comedy movie which is being paid off quite well. In their support, Taran Adarsh tweeted, “Those who mocked Abbas-Mustan for deviating from thrillers & opting for a TV star, well, A-M are having the last laugh”.
Kapil’s “Kis Kis Ko Pyaar Karoon” has broken the record of Karan Johar’s “Student of the Year” which earned 7.5 crore on its opening day. “Student of the Year” also introduced newcomers Alia Bhatt, Siddharth Malhotra and Varun Dhawan.
The opening day box office collection of “Kis Kis Ko Pyaar Karoon” has crossed Sooraj Pancholi and Athiya Shetty starrer “Hero”, which earned 6 crores on its first day. Its collections are even higher than this year’s box-office hits like “Brothers” and “Tanu weds Manu Returns”.
Talking about the changing perception of Bollywood, Kapil said, “Gone are the days when there was a myth that a comedian cannot play a hero. Today actors want to portray diverse characters. They don’t want to get typecast as a romantic hero only and many actors nowadays like to play negative characters.”
“So, the perception of people has changed and it’s a good thing”, he also added.
“Kis Kis Ko Pyaar Karoon” also stars Arbaaz Khan, Varun Sharma, Elli Avram, Manjari Phadnis, Simran Kaur Mundi and Amrita Puri.
