Chennai-Mangalore express gets derailed in Tamil Nadu, many injured

Several passengers have been reportedly injured as few coaches of the Chennai-Mangalore express derailed near Tamil Nadu’s Viruthachalam district at around 2 am in Friday morning.
The cause of the derailment is still unknown. The injured have been taken to the nearest hospital. Few reports said that around 42 people were injured in this accident. Most of them were discharged after first-aid. Three of them are still hospitalised.
The train has now left for its destination, but the rescue work to remove the derailed coaches is still on. Few train routes have been diverted because of the accident.

According to a government report of 2012, almost 1500 people in India die every year in train accidents.
